The warrior diet and my knowledge and experience with it:

Friday I really destroyed my arms and calves. I started out with the barbell curl still a bit too heavy, but I will adapt to that got to 6 reps with 47 kg at the end I was cheating and swinging a bit to get the weight up. When you train like this and you superset biceps and triceps it really pushes the volume in your arms and it must submit to the training and grow period. Even though I am still on the warrior diet and I only eat once a day I still maintain my muscle mass. Yes it goes down, but when I eat well in that big meal and sleep my body starts to recover, from the weight training and the next day I will focus on different muscle groups than I have trained the previous day. So it is safe to say I haven’t lost any muscle mass on the warrior diet only allot of body fat though. I will post the graphs later on so you can exactly see how much or little did I gain or lose, but so far I only see positive results.

New research suggest that when you do intermittent fasting your body is an a  state of autophagy meaning your body breaks down old weaker cells and feed on them to create new stronger cells. Some studies suggest you can induce peak levels of 2000% that of your natural testosterone wish is good for building muscle and burning fat. I am testing this theory, because it I the opposite of what I have learned when I studied nutrition in my personal training course. I went from eating 6 times a day smaller portion now I am eating one big meal a day and I am more alert now that I am eating one meal a day without coffee or caffeine pills compared to when I ate 6 meals plus drinking 6 to 8 cups of coffee or using pre-workout supplements.

I will do this until I’ve reached the 40 day mark after that I will decide if I go back to eating 3 times or 6 times a day, or keep this new habit of mine ,but from what I have learned each time you eat or consume calories you spike your insulin levels. Consuming allot of calories can makes your insulin levels a bit more resistant which my lead to diabetes if you get overboard with your diet especially if you’re an athlete and you need to consume allot of calories during the day to workout or compete in sports. When I eat once a day I know my insulin is very sensitive to food so when I eat a decent balanced meal and I supplement that with creatine at night I know everything will go directly to my muscles for recovery. This makes your body more sensitive to what you put in it which is good for absorption and recovering from your workouts.

And if I add a bit of body fat from the food I’ve ate the previous night my body will burn the fat for fuel the next day. I work so hard doing resistance training my muscle will never drop at this pace and will increase instead, because they have to submit to my training and my bones have to submit in getting stronger and this will eventually make me years younger than my own peer.  The best thing about the warrior diet is the Adrenalin your body produces form it and staying alert and not having to worry about preparing food all the time and you feel freer and you have much more time on your hands to do other things that matter to you.

If I say I eat one meal a day I am 100% honest I eat at night before I go to bed and then drink a couple glasses of milk with cocoa in it and if I’ve eaten earlier or if I can’t sleep at night or if I want to work on something until sunrise I would have a few boiled eggs before I sleep or eat a table spoon of peanut butter, but when I wake up feeding time is over and killing time begins. I enjoy testing this theory it helps you to develop a strong focused mind and builds your discipline and character.

I am by no means a professional in this field I am only sharing my experience and my honest opinion you should always consult your doctor before making drastic changes to your diet. See my training log here...dirk.okennedy_fitness
